since i've only been out of the country once i think it's fair to say that ireland is my favorite country. my favorite place too..i've been out of state before, so i think this one even tops the U.S. my mom, my dad, me, and my sister all went last august. it was by far the most beautiful and cold place i have ever been. i think i literally froze to death when i walked off the plane. which i'm actually pretty surprised i survived. I am terrified of flying. it's the worst thing you could have me do, "we're flying how high up in the air over how deep of an ocean?" yeah no thank you. It's a three hour flight from
the Salt Lake City airport to Atlanta where we had a two hour layover. From there it was an eight hour overnight flight to the Dublin airport. Complete with turbulance(: As mentioned in the above paragraphs as soon as i stepped off the plane i froze to death. Here's the thing about Dublin...it's gray and it rains about 99.9% of the time. Don't get me wrong, it's the most amazing place..but still..you think it could stop raining. Schoolhouse Lane...this was the street (more like an alleyway) that our apartment was on. Grafton Street. it's a pedestrianized street much like gateway...but a bit more irish(: Notice the sadly gray sky in the background. St. Stephen's Green is a huge park in the middle of dublin. it's amazingly green and there are tons of flowers and swans. 
For those of you who have seen the movie Leap Year this is the park they are walking around in after they get to dublin. we went to this park about three times the week we were there. The day we got there we decided to walk around it for a few minutes..right as we got lost in the center of the park it started to pour. it was our own little 'welcome to ireland'. Then my dear friends..we went to Dublin C
astle, which is bizarre because it doesn't look like a castle very much. There's about one tower and the rest is a red brick victorian style mansion that was built when the British invaded Ireland, knocked down the part of the castle, and then rebuilt it for their own use. When we went there were people building huge sand sculptures in the courtyard. they had chisels and paintbrushes and squirt bottles and they were climbing all over them.
That's just a few things we did that week..obviously i can't write about them all since it's taken me about 2 days to write this post and it's already epically long.. (epically is not a word...i know).
